a personal reminder

I think if there’s one sure sign there’s a God it’s that in each one of ‘ordinary us’ there is hidden a desire for greatness. To impact the world, to do great things. To achieve greatness. Some of us don’t even want the recognition & fame that comes with greatness – we just want to do great things. And if we believe, we will, for Jesus said that the works He did we will do also, & also greater things than He, because He goes to His Father (John 14:12).

Sometimes, it’s hard to remember that we’re designed for greatness, when we’re seemingly stuck in our mundane lives going about our daily routine. But don't lose sight of that glimmering vision that God has given you, even if it seems impossible, for all things are possible with God. (Matt 19:16) For if He is for us, who can be against us? (Rom 8:31)

And meanwhile, daily, ‘store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in & steal’.

‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ (Matt 7:20-21)

amen

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that i might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that i might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that i might do better things.
I asked for riches, that i might be happy,
I was given poverty, that i might be wise.
I asked for power, that i might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that i might feel the need of God

I asked for all things, that i might enjoy life
I was given life, that i might enjoy all things
I got nothing I asked for -
but everything i had hoped for
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers
were answered
I am, among all men
most richly blessed
